This is a large, luxurious lacquered hanging scroll box, the only one of its kind. It is 13cm long x 95cm wide x 13cm high and weighs about 3kg. The inside is a paulownia wood box with a lacquered bottom board at the bottom. It was made about 40 years ago to store a hanging scroll that my late father owned, but it has not been used as the hanging scroll was sold before it was completed. Therefore, there are no scratches or stains. The lacquered box is a work of art in itself, and the box itself is valuable. If something comparable were made today, it would be quite expensive. It is also resistant to moisture and pests, so it is perfect for storing important items, not just hanging scrolls, for long periods of time.
